FULL TIME ACTIVITIES MANAGER - One Year Maternity Leave Contract

St. Hilda’s Towers, is a not-for-profit retirement and assisted living facility seeking an experienced, creative, and insightful Full-Time Activities Manager for a one year Maternity Leave Contract. The successful candidate will manage and coordinate a small Activities Department and a growing number of Volunteers while providing exciting and inspirational activities in a unique seniors environment.
The Activities Manager will have an upbeat personality, be able to deal with all levels of cognitive and physical impairments in seniors as well as meet the physical, social, intellectual, emotional and spiritual needs of the residents’ as a whole.
Duties include, but are not limited to, planning activities and events, administration, training and mentoring staff, budget planning, departmental meetings and resident council meetings. The Activities Manager ensures the safety of the residents and provides continuous assessments of resident abilities, while acting as a Liaison with other departments in the resident’s care planning process.
The Activities Manager will assist and coordinate broadcasting on the home-specific TV Channel while organizing “live” programs and scheduling the re-airing of programs. The successful candidate will also have a comprehensive understanding of and be compliant with the new RHRA guidelines and mandates.
Qualifications should include:
· Post-secondary diploma or degree from a recognized Community College or University in Recreation & Leisure Studies, Activation or other related field.
· Current Standard and/or Emergency Aid and CPR Certification.
· Smart Serve Food Handlers Certificate required.
· Minimum 3-5 years experience in a Seniors Retirement and/or Long Term Care Facility
· Competency in GoldCare, MS Office and CorelDraw an asset.
· Experience in Volunteer Management.
· Must have excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
· Must have valid Driver’s License and access to vehicle.
· Must have (within the last 6 months) a Vulnerable Sector Police Screening and TB Test.
