Community Recreation Programmer

Amica at Bayview, North York, ON
(Full-Time, Permanent)

The Community Recreation Programmer is internally known as the Wellness and Vitality Assistant™.  You will report directly to the Wellness Coordinator, you will be responsible for assisting, developing, implementing, and maintaining a Wellness & Vitality™ program that includes therapeutic, physical, emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual and vocational activities intended to promote the residents’ well-being.

You are a dynamic self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.  Your passion for promoting an improved quality of life for mature adults is evidenced by your knowledge and understanding of the aging process and its significance to mature adults programming.  You have previous experience working with mature adults or in a related setting.  You have a diploma or degree from a recognized institution in Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Kinesiology, Recreation, Activation or a degree in Psychology, Sociology or Gerontology with a certificate in Recreation/Activation. Certificates in Management, Gerontology, Group Fitness and Aquatics would be an asset.  A Class 4 Driver’s License is necessary and current certification in CPR and First Aid is required. Ability to accommodate shift work, including evenings, weekends and holidays will be a requirement.
