The Community Recreation Coordinator is internally known as the Wellness and Vitality Coordinator™.  Under the guidance of the General Manager and the Corporate Manager, Wellness & Vitality, this position is responsible for all Wellness & Vitality™ Programs in the Community, including the development and implementation of each of the physical, emotional, spiritual, social, intellectual and vocational programs provided to our residents. The incumbent will be required to take a hands-on approach in facilitating and delivering the programs as well as supervising the Wellness & Vitality Assistant(s) and coordinating the Volunteer Program and the Resident’s Committee.

 

You are a dynamic self-starter with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.  Your passion for promoting an improved quality of life for mature adults is evidenced by your knowledge and understanding of the aging process and its significance to mature adults programming.  You have previous experience working with mature adults or in a related setting.  You have a diploma or degree from a recognized institution in Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Kinesiology, Recreation, Activation or a degree in Psychology, Sociology or Gerontology with a certificate in Recreation/Activation. Certificates in Management, Gerontology, Group Fitness and Aquatics would be an asset.  A Class 4 Driver’s License is necessary and current certification in CPR and First Aid is required.   Weekend availability will be a requirement.
