Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care (Yee Hong) is one of the largest not-for-profit long term and community care organizations in North America.  Continuing on the journey to “a caring community where seniors and others enjoy the highest quality of life and the model of excellence”, Yee Hong provides culturally appropriate care along the continuum, from a senior’s most independent days to their most dependent stage of life.  We offer this continuum of care services to Chinese seniors as well as seniors of various cultural backgrounds, including Korean, Vietnamese, Portuguese, South Asian, Filipino Japanese, and others.  This continuum includes four Long-Term Care Homes located in Scarborough, Markham and Mississauga areas, Senior Housing, Community Care, and Medical Services.

Core Function:

§   In consultation with the Executive Director, plans, develops and ensures delivery of meaningful recreational and social activity programs for residents of the LTC Home that reflect the organization's vision, strategic direction, resident centred approach and the residents' interests, ability and previous lifestyle.  Ensures programs are in compliance with relevant government legislations and policies, with due consideration of the resources available.

Qualifications:                       

§  Bachelor degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent; B.S.W. and Registered Social  Worker designation in Ontario*

§  Minimum 3 years post qualification experience in program planning and delivery in health care setting

§  Knowledge and experience in counseling with seniors and their caregivers

§  Good communication and interpersonal skills

§  Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Chinese

§  Ability to speak Japanese an asset

§  Occasional weekend or evening work
